Qazigund (Anantnag), Dec 28 (KNO): Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic (Rural) Ravinder Pal Singh on Saturday said that snow clearance operations on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway are going on a war-footing basis.
Talking exclusively to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the SSP Traffic (Rural) said, “The traffic on the highway has been suspended from both the sides i.e. Srinagar as well as Jammu. No vehicles are being allowed to ply on the highway.”
He said that at present nearly 350 heavy motor vehicles and 150 light motor vehicles are stranded on the highway. “It has been snowing continuously. We are trying to clear the vehicles stuck on the highway. Our advice to the commuters is not to embark on any journey on the highway till the weather improves and snow is cleared,” he added.
The SSP Traffic (Rural) said that snow clearance operations would gain momentum after the snowfall stops. “We are functioning as a team and collective efforts are being put to provide all possible help to the people,” he said—(KNO)
